based on British values topic was Paris bombing attacks group work cut out animation In my cut out animation what it was based on was the Paris attacking. how the media showed only the attacking but not the Lebanon bombing nor did they show the earthquake in Japan a tsunami in Mexico. So in our cut out animation we tried showing how people are so focused on what is in the media rather than what outside it.

‘Beauty in the eye of its beholder’
This is in reflection to a common real life situation. The dance symbolises and reflects of the dancer’s mood and emotions. The way she expresses herself throughout the dance. The feeling she has gone through and the breakage it left her feeling. A broken piece to a puzzle that can never be fixed again. Like if you glue a broken vase it still will never be the same. It explains when you love someone so much and never think anything tragic will come by. Nothing else matters but knowing your loved until you become crashed. To the point where the levels of insecurity rises and what you went through matters more than your current reality base. This then leads her in pieces which she then develops to have a character change. Trying to be something different yet it fails to configure and she dysfunctions.
Doll face (2):
Dance based on short film doll face; about how we all shrive to be something we are not naturally-how we all suffer to be something we are not.
A machine with a doll face mimics images on television screen in search of a satisfactory visage. Doll face presents a visual account of desires misplaced and identities fractured by technological extension into the future.
The idea is of how people are manipulated into presenting themselves in a certain way to make them look and feel beautiful. The lengths that women go through to achieve beauty and perfection.
‘Sometimes people have to suffer to look good’ (3)
Dance Form/ Structure:
Form and structure: my dance is in ternary form (ABA)
Section A1:
Insecurity
Personal space – starts at low level about looking in the mirror
Confinement – key motifs and development in section B
Section B2:
Shred part of the skin- Pulling shirt ( having a focus point to express the stimulus and reaching to escape)
Exploring outside of the personal space showing apprehension, but a bit more confidence. (gestural shows accumulation to show the dancers anguish growing)
Section A3:
Shedding the motifs and repeating them expanding each move ( for repetition, flash back was included on how the dancer felt)
Confidence was used to explore general space
Climax/Ending- bringing the motifs together from the first section and retrograde as if to flash back to memorise and shred them/disregard, strong, confidence powerful movement.
From this we did a Pixilation animation on After Effects.
Firstly you open AE
Then you go on file import
Then you go on import, file Click on the First Image, then tick below that it’s a JPEG and you can tick again to force Alphabetically
After this you may click Import and you will see that you file has been uploaded onto AE
After your file has been uploaded you can now get started
You can simple view your footage by clicking it to see each one.
You then do the fame for The music which will then appear with your file
After this you click on Composition and do a new composition I did one with a black background and made it the same time as the music
After this I dragged my photos onto the background and made it the same width and length as the composition
You then go on layer Transform and fit the composition whichever way fits the background
Now it’s fit to the composition you want you can then start your movie with your sound and then have a picture animation base on your story line ready to watch
The final animation has been fragmented and divided into 3 different sections. the images have been purposely put in different orders to show mixed feelings and emotions being uncontrolled and expressed throughout the animation itself. in conclusion to this, the group animation is based on a love that was once there and when pain came it ruined everything and took things apart.
This animation is on the growth, life and death of the rose. roses are meant to be or even know to be 'the flowers of love'
so if they were to be extinct then the public would be 'horrified'
when something gets destroyed metaphorically becomes 'the end of the world' without roses
Finished animation
Song Ref: Same old love
Artist: Selena Gommez Ft Fetty Wap
The way people adore and love their roses, this song reflects on love and pain. the way the rose suffered and dies out. It burns to the point where the colour changes, it doers and expires. something ugly. Euphemism. something that appears unappealing yet its beautiful inside and out. Regardless of how bad it looks at the end when its all colours of burns and crumbles. The beauty lies within its own creation. The dark side of a rose cycle. Life and death of the rose yet each part of it is still as beautiful as the growth.
Animation Types Four Main animation types Flip book Animation:
Very simple way to make an animation
Created with pencil, rubber and coloured pencil depending on what you want to achieve
Drawing material such as post stick pad
The style can be experimental and creative as you draw what you please
Stop Motion Animation:
Makes use of figure and bodily objects to make an animation
You can begin with the use of toys
You use them and capture them as photo images
Once you finished doing that process you then use a video edit software
These then turn into moving image videos
2D Animation:
A digital version of a flip book
animations where visuals are made by drawing in a software
need good drawing skills
there’s tools to help increase the speed of drawing
animation will appear to seem smoother
you can easily adjust the timing of the animation
3D Animation:
makes the animation using 3D virtual space
has the potential to make realist and stunning sights
able to do this because of its calculations
this purifies the Image and makes it look as realistic as reality
ISSUES WITH ANIMATION
First fully computer-animated film was Toy Story, released in 1995. Now currently in the theaters, animations use big screen, 3D display, great surround sound, and amazing computer graphics to appeal to the viewers more than ever before. However, major problems still seem to occur within these industries continuously: layoffs and studio closures. Recently, 350 employees in DreamWorks have been laid off, due to low performance on its previous film “Rise of Guardians.” Also in DisneyToon Studios, 17 of 60 full-time employees have been laid off. Because large animation companies try to stay competitive with the other companies, they want to maintain top quality in their animated films. So if the animators don’t do a flying job on a film, the chances are, they might be fired. This is recurring problem could be a great concern for the animators, and the competition among them will only grow bigger. Another big problem in animation industry is the studio closures. With high competition to make the best animated films, low quality studios are bound to go bankrupt. Considering the high cost of the filmmaking, many studios do not even get a chance to produce their first films before going defunct. Also, Internet’s pirating of the films decreases the possible incomes they could have made. There are multiple factors the industries could consider in order to reduce these problems within.
As for layoffs, I think they are unavoidable for the studios because of harsh competition. However, as for studio closures, there might be some ways to prevent loss of profit. One of the scariest creations of human beings is the Internet: the ultimate source of data collected by billions of people around the world. Many times, people tend to overlook the power of the Internet since it looks so peaceful and organized. However, it is one place where people can decide to stay anonymous, and they use their creative minds for all kinds of matters going on in the Internet. One of those is pirating. Even though it is illegal to use other people’s work for your advantage, it is very hard to regulate millions of anonymous people online. This free access to supposedly pay-to-get things causes loss for the companies that made the work. Most often pirated works online are movies, games, and music. If this loss could be prevented, there would be more profit for the companies, therefore reducing closures.
THE ROLE OF SOUND IN /ANIMATION
The Role of a Sound Designer in Animation Sound design is acquiring, generating and manipulating audio elements. Within Animation it is commonly use to compose music, spot sounds and sometimes voice elements, to create a desired mood or effect. Jimmy Macdonald worked for Disney as a sound designer. He made many instruments to manipulate sounds that could not be brought into a studio. Floorboard squeek Frog Croak Marching Footsteps Sound Design is usually done in post production, which ties the piece together, but would be thought about in preproduction. Sound Design is used in all sectors of animation, as its a vital part of story telling, setting the tone time and place. Ben Burtt Ben Burtt is an American sound Designer, he has worked on Star Wars, E.T and Pixar's WALL-E. When working on WALL-E, he created 2600 sound files to create WALL-E'S whole world, he gatherd lots of mechanical sounds and pulled out the best to make his robotic world. Burtt manipulated sounds to create the emotions of WALL-E to show the audience what WALL-E was going though, as he has no voice.
FILM PRODUCTION TECHNIQUES
composition : basic aesthetic theory symmetry vs. asymmetry energy colour weight and vertices depth - centres the subject into a frame creating illusions of depths
DIFFERENT JOB ROLES WITHIN THE ANIMATION SECTOR :
animation director or supervisor- they take all the responsibility for the quality of the animation
animator(2D computer animation)-animate scenes, camera movements and charts information on dope
sheets
animator (2D drawn animation) they make a range of static drawings which create the illusion movement
ANIMATION PRODUCTION PROCESS
process in which animation is made: concept storyboard scripts drawings photographs temporary sound track animatic pipeline-test
